Camping for the night on a river island
Description
The Kayak Fishing Boot Camp (KFBC) is a three day immersion into the world of kayak fishing for river smallmouth bass with pro kayak fishing guide Juan Veruete of Kayak Fish PA, LLC. During the three day camp, you will take part in talking seminars, brief on the water seminars, and one on one instruction focused on Juan’s three pillars of kayak fishing success; Paddle Technique & Holding Position, Fish Behavior & Location, Lure Presentations & Strategies.
The KFBC will take place on the picturesque upper Juniata River. The upper Juniata River’s features vary greatly offering an incredibly diverse learning environment for the kayak angler.
*The Kayak Fishing Boot Camp will be limited to a maximum of four kayak anglers each session
Here’s what one kayak angler had to say about last years Kayak Fishing Boot Camp…
The Kayak Boot Camp run by Juan Veruete has made a huge difference in my Kayak fishing results. I am a former tournament Bass fisherman, but I was having trouble translating that experience into success while fishing from a Kayak. Juan teaches a complete system for presentation, lure and tackle selection, and boat handling/positioning that is logical, easy to learn, and highly effective. I learned a ton of new stuff, had a great time, and caught my personal best Smallmouth… I highly recommend this class to Kayak anglers of all skill levels.

Accommodations
Idle Acres Campground, Allensville, PA is our “base camp” for the KFBC. You will have access to hot showers and modern restroom facilities. The camp ground also has a small “private” trout stream running through it for those who may be interested in wetting a line at camp.
Anglers will bunk in a one room rustic cabin complete with bunk beds, small refrigerator, microwave, and electric lights. There are modern bathroom facilities with hot showers (coin operated). The first and last night will be spent at the “base camp” cabin. The second night we will be tent camping on a mid river island. Make no mistake. We will be roughing it on the river.
Equipment
You will need to supply your own camping gear, toiletries, personal items, kayak, and fishing equipment. You are encouraged to bring your own lures but I will also provide lures that we will use to learn specific techniques or bait presentations. I will provide participants with a list of recommended gear upon confirmation of your registration.
